Help Your Patients Achieve Optimal Wellness

Prepare to offer an integrative, evidence-based approach to care that helps your patients achieve true wellness as you learn how to treat the whole person, not just the symptom. The George Washington University (GW) is proud to offer the only MSHS in Integrative Medicine (INTM) available.

The scientifically rigorous, progressive program has a competency-based, interdisciplinary curriculum that's 100% online and is accredited by the American Board of Integrative Medicine (ABOIM).

The program is available to health care and wellness professionals such as physicians, nurses, FNPs, NPs, pharmacists, dieticians/nutritionists, health coaches, physician assistants, psychiatrists/therapists/counselors, physical/occupational therapists, and wellness/fitness professionals.

Licensed physicians can become board certified in integrative medicine by completing a fellowship with supervised clinical training.

All INTM students enjoy free membership in the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health, including:

  • International Congress on Integrative Medicine & Health.
  • Free webinars, workshops, and research alerts.
  • An opportunity to participate in LEAPS (The Leadership and Education Program for Students in Integrative Medicine), an annual week-long residential immersion into integrative medicine.

Which program is right for you? Consider your academic and career experience, your goals for practice, and our programs (below).

With the addition of 1,000 extracurricular hours of supervised experience, graduates are eligible to sit for the Certified Nutrition Specialist® (CNS) exam.

What is the CNS?

“The Certified Nutrition Specialist® credential (CNS®) is the most advanced certification for personalized nutrition practitioners. Certified Nutrition Specialists practice science-based personalized nutrition therapy to power people to health. They are spearheading the transformation from population-based to personalized nutrition, and from disease care to authentic health care.” Source: The American Nutrition Association

"The genre of integrative medicine is even larger than I imagined, and many modalities exist within its construct. Many of the resources available in the program allowed me to access databases that I could use in my day to day work as well as in the program. There was such a wide range of backgrounds from other students in the program, that I have maintained contact with several post-graduation."

"During the program, I had the opportunity to take Clinical applications of Integrative Medicine taught by Dr. Heyman whom I consider one of the best in this field. His approach to health and wellness using the metabolic code triads is life-changing for several diseases and something that I truly encourage every physician or medical professional to incorporate into their practice."
